Re-Imagine Mountrath

Mountrath has a rich history dating back to the early 17th when it was founded by the Coote family. The location on the Whitehorse River allowed Mountrath to become an industrial hub with extensive linen and cotton weaving traditions. 20th urban development disrupted this connection to an important amenity.

Our proposal seeks to creatively explore, with the local community, how the town can reconnect, socially, culturally, and artistically, with the Whitehorse River. The project will engage the public imagination, explore and remember important cultural histories, while investigating how the town can reengage with this natural amenity.
